Another shark attack in Hawaii…

Jimmy “Ulu Boy” Napeahi, 16, was bitten on the legs by a shark while surfing at Dead Trees, Pohoiki Beach, Big Island, Hawaii, according to a report from the Hawaiian Department of Land and Natural Resources.

The incident happened around 1.30pm on Sunday, 18 August 2013.

He sustained multiple lacerations and puncture wounds to his lower extremities. He was treated on the scene before being transported to Pahoa Fire Station, and he was then air lifted to Hilo Medical Center.

A report and interview in Stab mag says it was a grey shark about 8-10 feet long.

His mom is quoted in the interview as saying:

He was out there with a couple of friends and… he was chosen. He got bitten as he was going to take off, he was trying to get up, and on his way up, the shark bit him and pulled him under. He went under two times. He tried to punch the shark, and then he started to swim away.
