INJURED – 31 August 2011 — Crescent Beach, Florida, US – surfer bitten

Shane Lancaster, 19, received a minor wound to his left leg from shark bite while surfing at Crescent Beach, Florida, US. The incident happened Wednesday 31 August 2011.

He said he felt something bump his leg while he was surfing and when he left the water his leg was covered in blood. Rescue officials cleaned and bandaged his wound on the beach.

He told the press he had 22 teeth marks on the bottom of his leg and six on top and that the wound required stitches.

“It wasn’t like I was screaming. It was scary and shocking, that’s all. It was like a bunch of little needle pricks in my leg.”

From the bite wound it was estimated that the shark was 6 foot long. It wasn’t reported what type of shark it could have been.
