INJURED – 25 June 2005 – Fripp Island, South Carolina, US – boogie boarder attacked
Ella Morris, 6, was boogie boarding with her father off Fripp Island Beach Club, South Carolina, US was bitten on her leg by a shark.
Her father said she he felt something nudge his leg and then Ella was pulled under the water. He pulled her to the surface and saw she had a deep gas on her leg.
Her mother told media: “He threw the Boogie Board they had been using (away) and squeezed her leg together. Then he carried her up the beach and booked it to the fire house. There was lots of blood. You could see her bone.”
Ella was treated by paramedics before being taken to Beaufort Memorial Hospital where she received 22 stitches and later discharged.
Doctors reckoned the shark was between 4 and 5 feet in length.
