The girl’s name is Brooklyn Daniel. She was bitten on the left leg and required 140 stitches. – Can’t have been a small wound! She has been released from hospital and is expected to make a complete recovery.

A six-year-old girl (not named) was bitten on the leg by a shark while swimming off Ocean Isle Beach, North Carolina, USA. She suffered only minor puncture wounds to her leg. The girl was reportedly in shallow water when it happened.
Apparently the girl’s mother reported seeing a shark following a school of fish in the area.
No other details were reported.

Any shark bitings or attacks in Oak Island, NC in 2012? My husband, our chocolate lab (who loves the ocean) and I are heading there in 3 weeks and I’m a “little” freaked-out by all the recently-reported shark attacks.
