INJURED – 5 March 2012 – Playalinda Beach, Brevard County, Florida, US – Kiteboarder bitten
Justin Worrall, 19, was bitten on the foot while kiteboarding off Playalinda Beach, Brevard County, Florida, US. The incident happened on Sunday 5 March 2012.
He is quoted as saying he “felt something tugging on his left foot” after his kite went down.
He managed to sail back to shore with his foot bleeding heavily.
He said he saw the fin of the shark, but did not identify it.
He was taken by ambulance to Parrish Medical Center in Titusville, where he was treated and discharged. Apparently the wound required 3 stiches.
“Actually, I feel pretty lucky because it didn’t get me too bad,” Worrall said in a post-hospital interview. “Thankful that it didn’t, it didn’t bite my foot off or anything crazy.
“But it feels pretty cool, I guess, to be bitten by a shark,” he said.
No other details were reported.
