FATAL – 22 May 2011?? – Near Kendec, north New Caledonia, South Pacific – kiteboarder attacked

In several very brief reports which quote the New Caledonian newspaper, a 15-year old kiteboarder, named only as Nathan, was reported kite surfing with his father when he fell and while swimming back to his board or sail he was attacked a by shark which mauled his leg.
The attack happened while he was kite boarding near Kendec in the north of the archipelago of New Caledonia, South Pacific.
The date of the attack is not mentioned. It was reported on Monday 23 May 2011.
One report says his father and friends managed to rescue him but he died when he arrived at hospital in Koumac.
No other details were reported.
